Diablo III running on an ATI Radeon X1600 and 1GB of RAM
There is still hope for the computationally disabled among us; Diablo 3 is playable on a 5 year old Mac. This quick video shows Diablo 3 running on unsupported hardware, specifically a MacBook Pro 1,1 with a Radeon ATI X1600 with 256MB of onboard memory and 1GB of RAM. By Esc'ing past the unsupported hardware warning message and by changing 'DisableTrilinearFiltering' and 'HardwareClass' from '0' to '1' within D3prefs.txt, which can be found at ~/Library/Application Support/Blizzard/Diablo III/, the game runs suprisingly well. The aspect ratio of the video has been altered to fit YouTube's player; I don't play with 'Letterbox' checked when not recording. Also keep in mind that without ScreenFlow running the game averages out at around 18-23 frames per second at a resolution of 1024×640. Upping the resolution to 1152×720 or above results in a hit of around 5 frames per second, but the game is still completely playable. Changing clutter density didn't nocticably affect performance.
