so i think the title pretty well explains it, but for more detail here goes. I recently bought a new xbox (the xbox 360 s) and i had one of the very first xbox 360s to come out, so my old gamertage and all game data with it is stored on my hard drive. this hard drive doesnt fit into the new xbox, so im planning on getting one of those data transfer cables. However, in the meantime i plan to recover my gamertag on my new console. Will recovering it bring all my saved game data and progress? or is it just things such as gamerscore that are directly related to my gamertag?

Only profile information, achievements etc.

It will not recover your saves. Those have to be moved over with a transfer cable or formatted USB drive. It will recover your achievements, purchase history, and online ranks.

yes and no basically heres how it goes.A old xbox360 harddrive will work on the elite and theelites will work on the old.But, the elite and the old, will not work in the slim, and same reverse.Let me explain it.The old and elite have the same shape hardrive so you can fit it in perfectly.But the slim has a different shape harddrive so you cant do anything.it will only work if you have a usb connecter.Like the one for kinect it has femal and male sides so the femal goes into the harddrive while the male goes into the xbox360.
