Asked: I think my EVGA GeForce GTX 680 is Fried? Can Anyone Confirm?

Hey everyone,

As I type this message I'm extremely PO'd because I have only had my GTX 680 for a little over 3 months and I assume that it is already fried. Yesterday I was playing Darksiders II and I noticed that occasionally during gameplay the screen would have very stretchy artifacts and then afterwards the screen would go black then come back up after about 30 seconds but the game would run at extremely low frames (keep in mind I can run the game at 250 fps normally). Today I turned my computer on to a black screen and no matter what I did, the computer wouldn't display an image. Thinking this was just a glitch, I turned it off then back on again. When it came back on it booted up normally but on the "windows bootup" screen I noticed these red lines that ran across my entire screen. Thinking this was odd I proceeded with the boot process like normal and when I got to the log in page the screen resolution became very big at a size of 800×600 and my Nvidia Control Panel was completely gone and my EVGA Precision X programgave me a warning message saying "No Hardware Detected!" as if my graphics card wasn't even in my computer anymore. I think the only reason why I am able to see an image is because it reverted to the on-board Intel graphics accelerator but I could be wrong. I also have tried updating my drivers and installing the Nvidia Control Panel again but that didn't work. If anyone could try to diagnose this problem I'd appreciate it. I honestly think my graphics card is fried but I could be wrong. Could someone confirm?

I have a Dell ultra sharp monitor which is awesome but very demanding on hardware. I currently run 9800gt x2 in sli, and it seems a bit weak. I want to do some racing gaming, no super action violent stuff, while also doing some adobe editing on Photoshop, illustrator, and premiere pro. Any card with a decent price is good. My current ideas are…

1) zotac gtx 570 (mercury engine, maybe 2 in sli)

2)(some brand) gtx 670

I'm upgrading my computer, which upgrade would do best if I'm onto gaming? (AC3,BF3 DX11 games)
MY current specs:
Motherboard:a mobo with 2 DDR2 ram slots, 775 intel socket, and PCI-E 1.0
Processor: Intel E5200 2.5 ghz dual core
Ram: 4GB 800mhz DDR2
GPU: GT430 2gb DDR3
